A fantastic day at Diss on Saturday. Many thanks to our excellent hosts for a great game in great weather. The result mattered to both teams as the season draws to a close, and the Ravens edged it in a feast of running rugby.
Colchester were well ahead in the first quarter as Diss heads dropped. The home side came out with a different attitude in the second half, pulled points back and in the final quarter the result was always within one score.
The win was based on a solid forward platform. Alex Mitchell dominated the scrum, Harry Pemberton the line out, and Tom Holden the loose. Winger Jack Gostling won man of the match, and both fly half Henry Newman and replacement Rufus Russell-Cox had great first senior games. There were no fewer than five 18 year olds in the team.
Try scorers were Joe Colcomb (2), Matt Parker (2), Jack Gostling (1) and Harvey Fenwick (1).
